Popular Nigerian financial commentator Geh Geh has advised men to remain cautious in romantic relationships, stressing that trust should not prevent them from taking steps to protect themselves.
Geh Geh made the remarks while discussing relationships, marriage and the financial consequences that can arise when couples separate.
According to him, people should understand that relationships can change over time, regardless of how strong the love and trust may appear at the beginning.
“You feel say life na Nollywood? Life no be Nollywood,” he said.
He cautioned men against dismissing warnings about protecting their finances and interests simply because they have confidence in their partners.
“You can trust people and still protect yourself,” Geh Geh stated, adding that a woman could be supportive and trustworthy for several years before circumstances change.
He further referenced cases involving footballers who married women, later divorced and reportedly had to share significant portions of their wealth and properties.
“There was a time love dey, trust dey; them love theirself, them trust theirself. And for that reason they failed to protect themselves and they paid the price,” he said.
