Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully thwarted multiple kidnap attempts in Zamfara State, rescuing the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Dr. Aminu Yusuf, along with several other victims.

According to a statement issued by the operation’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the first incident occurred on July 28 when terrorists invaded the rector’s residence in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.

The attackers killed his private security guard and injured another resident before attempting to abduct Dr. Yusuf and his family.

Troops responded swiftly, engaging the assailants with superior firepower and rescuing the rector unharmed.

Later the same day, troops on night patrol intercepted another group of terrorists attempting to abduct residents in Tungan Dorawa, Barkeji Village.

Despite challenging terrain, the soldiers pursued and engaged the attackers, preventing the abduction.

In a separate operation, troops foiled an attempt to kidnap a prominent businessman, Alhaji Azaria, rescuing him along with 21 other civilians taken from nearby houses.

A suspected terrorist informant, identified as 45-year-old Falalu Yusuf, was also arrested and handed over to authorities for investigation.

Commending the troops, Danja reaffirmed Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s commitment to restoring peace and security in Zamfara and the wider North-West region.
