Cook County Sheriff’s Police found a missing teenage girl from Harvey during a routine traffic stop in the South Loop on July 21 after pulling over a Mercedes SUV driven by Nathaniel McGee, 53, for driving without headlights. Officers discovered one of his two teenage passengers had been reported missing and that McGee had purchased alcohol for both girls.

A routine traffic stop in Chicago’s South Loop led to the discovery of a missing teenager and the arrest of a 53-year-old Chicago man who had purchased alcohol for two teenage girls riding in his vehicle.

At approximately 11:35 p.m. on July 21 Cook County Sheriff’s Police Community Safety Team stopped a Mercedes SUV in the 100 block of West Roosevelt Road for driving without headlights.

The driver Nathaniel McGee, 53, of Chicago was found to have a revoked driver’s license and an open cup containing alcohol.

When the vehicle was towed McGee and his two female passengers were asked to exit.

Officers discovered both passengers were teenagers. One of them had been reported missing from Harvey.

McGee told officers the girls were his friends.

Investigators also found additional alcoholic beverages and suspect cannabis in the SUV.

McGee had purchased alcohol for the teenage girls according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Both girls were seen by paramedics as a precaution and then returned home. The missing teen was reunited with her family.

The Charges

Nathaniel McGee was taken into custody and charged with three misdemeanor counts. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Driving on a revoked license. Possession of cannabis by a driver. He was subsequently released.

Harvey is a south suburb of Chicago in Cook County approximately 17 miles south of downtown Chicago.
