Federal Government has pledged full institutional support for Nigeria’s representative at the 75th Miss World Beauty Pageant, describing her participation as an opportunity to promote the country’s culture, talent and the leadership potential of Nigerian women on the global stage.

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, made this pledge in Abuja while formally presenting Miss World Nigeria, Queen Tamunosoye Karibi-George, as the country’s official representative to the international competition scheduled to hold in Vietnam.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim said the Miss World pageant had evolved beyond a beauty contest into a global platform for leadership, cultural exchange, social impact and purposeful engagement.

She noted that Nigeria’s participation would not only be about competing for the crown but also about projecting a positive national image, promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage and showcasing its creative economy.

“When this young woman walks onto that stage, she does not walk alone. She goes as Nigeria’s cultural ambassador, carrying the story of our nation and the aspirations of millions of Nigerian girls,” Sulaiman-Ibrahim said.

She added that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on youth development, women’s empowerment and strengthening Nigeria’s global image.

The Minister announced that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs would provide comprehensive support for the beauty queen’s preparation, travel and welfare throughout the competition.

She also disclosed that the Ministry would host a high-level send-off reception in her honour on August 5 at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, with government officials, development partners, media organisations and other stakeholders expected to attend.

She commended the Miss Nigeria Organisation, the Silverbird Group and partner institutions for working together to promote Nigeria’s image internationally, urging Nigerians to rally behind the country’s representative.

Responding, Queen Karibi-George expressed appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, the Silverbird Group and other stakeholders for supporting her journey to the global pageant.

She described the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the 75th Miss World competition as the fulfilment of a lifelong dream and pledged to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage, diversity and resilient people before the international audience.

“I will be flying my country’s flag high, showcasing our rich culture, our heritage and the beauty of the Nigerian people. This has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I am grateful to see that dream come true,” she said.

Karibi-George also commended the Minister of Women Affairs for championing her participation from the beginning, expressing confidence that she would make Nigeria proud.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Esuabana Asanye, expressed confidence that Nigeria’s representative would excel at the competition and assured her of the Ministry’s support and the prayers of Nigerians.

She noted that women from the Niger Delta had consistently distinguished themselves in beauty pageants and expressed optimism that Karibi-George would return home with honour for the country.

The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to empowering women and creating platforms that enable them to excel in different fields while calling on Nigerians to support the country’s representative throughout the competition.
