You will spot a dedicated HD button sitting right next to the usual cropping and text tools. 

Tapping this icon brings up two distinct choices: Standard Quality and HD Quality. Standard quality sends your video faster using minimal data, while HD quality delivers a much sharper picture that preserves all original fine details.

Changing default upload quality in app settings

To avoid manually tapping the HD icon every single time you share media, you can set a permanent default preference inside your app menu. 

Open WhatsApp on your smartphone and tap the three dots in the top right corner for Android or the settings gear for iPhone. 

Select Storage and Data, then scroll down to tap Media Upload Quality.
