German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are closing in on the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika after reaching an agreement with Belgian champions Club Brugge.

According to Sky Germany, all parties have agreed on a deal worth €9 million plus performance-related bonuses, with the Nigerian expected to complete his medical within the next 48 hours before signing a long-term contract until 2031.

Frankfurt beat Saudi interest

The Bundesliga club moved swiftly to secure Onyedika’s signature after fending off late interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, which had also submitted offers for the midfielder.

Frankfurt have tracked the 25-year-old for several years and have now reached an agreement to bring him to Germany as part of their summer recruitment drive.

Once his medical is completed, Onyedika is expected to immediately join first-team training ahead of the new Bundesliga season.

Reward for impressive Brugge spell

Onyedika leaves Club Brugge after an outstanding three-year stint in Belgium, where he established himself as one of the league’s most consistent midfielders.

Since joining the club in 2022, he has made 183 appearances across all competitions, helping Brugge win two Belgian Pro League titles, including the 2025/26 championship, as well as the Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup.

His performances have attracted interest from several European clubs, but Frankfurt appear to have won the race for his signature.

Sixth Nigerian at Frankfurt

The move would see Onyedika become the sixth Nigerian to represent Eintracht Frankfurt, following Henry Isaac, Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, Nduka Anyanwu, Donald Agu and Isaac Ojigwe.

Frankfurt are looking to strengthen their midfield as they prepare for the new season and seek a return to European competition after last campaign’s disappointment.

For Onyedika, the transfer represents another significant step in his career as he prepares to test himself in the Bundesliga after establishing his reputation in Belgium.
