Eintracht Frankfurt have reached an agreement with Belgian Pro League champions Club Brugge for the transfer of Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the Bundesliga club have sealed a deal with Club Brugge to sign the 25-year-old, bringing an end to weeks of speculation over his future.

The agreement is worth an initial €9 million, with additional performance-related add-ons included in the package.

Onyedika is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days before signing a long-term contract that will keep him at Deutsche Bank Park until 2031.

The defensive midfielder was absent from Club Brugge’s Belgian Super Cup clash against Union Saint-Gilloise on Friday after the club confirmed he was unavailable due to illness.

Onyedika joined Club Brugge from Danish side FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2022, and quickly established himself as one of the team’s key performers.

During his time with Blauw-Zwart, he helped the club win two Belgian Pro League titles, as well as the Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup, while earning widespread praise for his commanding displays in midfield.

The move to Eintracht Frankfurt represents the next step in the Super Eagles star’s career as he prepares for his first taste of Bundesliga football.
