The agency’s Managing Director, Musayyib Ungogo, led officials on an assessment visit to the residence of the Head of Daneji Ward following reports that a large snake had entered the premises, causing alarm among residents.

The Head of Daneji Ward, Abba Lawan, stated that his son was the first to notice what appeared to be a large python entering one of the rooms in their home.

Lawan reported that the incident was immediately communicated to the police, who responded promptly but were initially unable to locate the snake.

Residents believe the python may have escaped from the home of former Accountant General Ahmad Idris, where it had reportedly gone missing last year.

Later, the police contacted a member of the former Accountant General’s household, named Alolo, who organised local hunters from Wangara to assist in the search for the snake.

The hunters searched the building for about 90 minutes before breaking part of a wall to gain access and capture the snake.

Agency seeks custody of python KAZOWMA officials also visited the residence of the former Accountant General to gather more information about the incident.

However, Ahmad Idris was unavailable, while a representative declined to comment, saying only that the python had already been taken away by the local hunters.

Ungogo assured residents that the agency would do everything possible to recover the python and place it in its custody to ensure proper care and protect public safety.

He warned that the agency would enforce wildlife regulations against anyone found keeping dangerous wild animals without authorisation, including confiscating such animals where necessary.

Ungogo also urged residents across Kano State to remain vigilant and report sightings of dangerous or wild animals to KAZOWMA for a swift response, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
