England finished fourth in 38.71 seconds, followed by Jamaica in 39.07 seconds and Kenya in 39.74 seconds. Canada and South Africa were both disqualified, leaving Nigeria with a well-deserved silver after a clean baton exchange and a strong anchor leg.

The silver medal added to Nigeria’s growing athletics haul in Glasgow, coming after Samuel Ogazi’s historic gold medal in the men’s 400m and Ella Onojuvwevwo’s bronze in the women’s 400m, underscoring the country’s resurgence on the track.

Nigeria’s relay team produced one of its fastest performances of the season, holding off a late charge from Ghana to secure second place behind the Australians and further cementing the country’s reputation as one of Africa’s sprint powerhouses. The result also provides a major confidence boost for the team ahead of upcoming global championships later this year.
