EV Automobiles and Balmoral Group have partnered to reward winners of the headline bouts at this year’s Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing event with brand-new electric vehicles.

The two companies unveiled the vehicles at a press conference in Lagos, ahead of the boxing event scheduled for July 31 at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.

Under the partnership, the winners of the bouts between Portable and Charles Okocha, and Mr Real and Idowest, will each receive a brand-new electric vehicle.

The initiative, according to the companies, is aimed at promoting Nigerian sports and entertainment while increasing awareness of sustainable mobility and creating opportunities for young Nigerians.

Speaking at the unveiling, Ned Okonkwo, chairman of EV Motors, described the partnership as the beginning of a long-term relationship between two Nigerian brands committed to supporting local talent.

“This partnership isn’t just for now. It’s a long-term relationship between two Nigerian brands that believe in the Nigerian dream,” he said.

Okonkwo said the initiative was focused on “changing lives, rewarding excellence and showing young Nigerians that they can achieve their dreams here.”

He expressed confidence that Nigeria could become a destination for major international boxing events, noting the performance of Nigerian boxers on the global stage.

Ezekiel Adamu, founder of Chaos in the Ring and group managing director of Balmoral Group, said the partnership supports the platform’s objective of using innovation and entertainment to expand opportunities for African boxers.

According to him, Nigeria has significant boxing talent but has historically lacked platforms capable of giving fighters international exposure.

Since its inception, Chaos in the Ring has combined boxing with entertainment and has generated significant views and digital impressions. The platform has also secured global distribution through sports streaming platform DAZN.

Adamu said the platform had contributed to improving the earning potential and international opportunities available to Nigerian boxers.

He said fighters who previously earned less than N50,000 per bout now command higher purses, secure international contracts and compete outside Nigeria.

“Our dream has always been to reverse the narrative, so that international athletes begin looking to Africa as a destination for opportunity. We’re already seeing that happen,” he said.

The organisers said the partnership with EV Motors would further support their efforts to promote Nigerian talent and innovation, while adding sustainable mobility to the platform’s growing sports and entertainment proposition.
