The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), driving the reelection bid of Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has alleged plot to arrest 46 of its members on trump up charges ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The Deputy Director-General of TICC, Kolapo Alimi, who disclosed this to journalists in Osogbo, Sunday, alleged that the scheme involves whisking key opposition leaders to Abuja under trumped-up charges. 

Alimi described the move as a “classic, archaic playbook designed to weaken our campaign structures, disenfranchise voters, and create an atmosphere of fear.”

He said intelligence reports indicate that specific partisan actors are working hand-in-glove with compromised security personnel to track, intimidate, and target opposition stakeholders in Ikire and across the state. 

Alimi named individuals identified as Ola Abbas, Adeboye Opeyemi, and a notorious operative known as “General,” alleging they have been spotted operating alongside security details.

TICC drew particular attention to the alleged involvement of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ola Abbas.

“It is deeply disturbing that a uniformed officer of the NSCDC, paid by Nigerian taxpayers to protect critical national infrastructure and ensure public safety, has reduced himself to a partisan political thug.

“Ola Abbas is actively participating in operations completely outside the lawful mandate of the Civil Defence Corps, harassing political opponents, and violating the basic human rights of citizens,” he stated.

The council warned that such actions represent a gross abuse of office, a betrayal of public trust, and a severe breach of the security code of conduct, noting that security forces taking orders from partisan interests risk becoming instruments of tyranny.

TICC called on the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and the Commandant General of the NSCDC to intervene immediately by issuing a firm directive to the Osun State Police Command, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and special squads from Abuja to halt the arbitrary arrest and harassment of opposition members.

He urged Disu to order an immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation into the actions of Ola Abbas, Adeboye Opeyemi, “General,” and any police officers involved in unlawful raids and review the deployment of security personnel in Osun State ahead of the poll to guarantee that only professional, neutral, and uncorrupted officers are on duty.

TICC called for establishment of an independent panel of inquiry to investigate the roles played by the accused individuals and compromised teams.

The council also condemned the late-night arrest of one of its key stakeholders, Mr. Taofeek Akinyemi, by officers of the Osun State Police Command and the SCID on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Alimi noted that Akinyemi was a survivor of a previous violent attack where he was shot multiple times by thugs in his shop opposite DCool Hotel in Ikire, following which he was rushed to the hospital by the police.

“We demand the immediate, unconditional release of Mr. Taofeek Akinyemi, or that he be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction if there is any legitimate allegation against himy which we know there is none,” Alimi added.

However, the police said there is no list anywhere, noting that the command is only pursuing criminals in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said, “We are raiding black sports and criminal hideouts every day to sanitise the environment for the forthcoming election, and this raid is not targeted at any individual, not a group of persons or a political party.

“It is targeted at criminal hideouts. We don’t have any list anywhere; the police doesn’t formulate any list.

“We are only working with criminal records that we have and constantly raiding black spots and criminal hideouts.

“We have advised parents to warn their children to avoid late-night movements and to avoid relationships with those who have criminal records. There is no way they will not implicate them.

“There is no list anywhere, we are only raiding criminal hideouts. The government has promised to come up with a joint task force, and that would have helped a lot, so it won’t be police alone, but since then, we have not seen anything from them.

“Maybe tomorrow it will come up, so it won’t be that police is the one doing it alone or police have some people in mind,” police said.
