Arsenal have agreed a £75 million deal with Newcastle United for the signing of captain Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports.

The Brazil international midfielder has reportedly been given permission to travel for a medical as the Gunners move closer to completing a major transfer ahead of the new season.

Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that Arsenal had reached an agreement with Newcastle for Guimarães, adding that the midfielder was allowed to undergo medical checks.

Guimarães joined Newcastle from Lyon in 2022 and quickly became one of the club’s most important players, helping the Magpies secure European football while establishing himself as a leader at St James’ Park.

The 28-year-old was later named Newcastle captain and has been widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s top midfielders due to his ability to control games, win possession and contribute in attack.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is believed to have identified midfield reinforcement as a priority as the north London club continue their push for domestic and European success.

The proposed move would see Newcastle receive a significant fee for a player who played a key role in the club’s recent resurgence.

The transfer is expected to be completed after Guimarães undergoes his medical and agrees personal terms with Arsenal.
