Arsenal have agreed a £75 million deal with Newcastle United for the transfer of captain Bruno Guimarães, according to reports.
The Brazil international midfielder has reportedly been given permission to travel for a medical as the Gunners move closer to completing the signing of one of the Premier League’s most influential midfielders.
As reported by Sky Sports on Wednesday, “Arsenal have agreed a £75m fee with Newcastle for their captain Bruno Guimaraes.
The midfielder has been given permission to travel for a medical.”
Guimarães has been a key figure at Newcastle since joining from Lyon in 2022, quickly establishing himself as a leader and becoming club captain. His performances have helped the Magpies secure European football and compete among the Premier League’s top sides.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is believed to have made strengthening the midfield a priority as the club prepare for another title challenge. Guimarães’ ability to control games, win possession and contribute in attack has made him one of the most sought-after midfielders in English football.
The proposed move would represent a major piece of business for both clubs, with Newcastle set to receive a significant fee for a player who has become central to their recent resurgence.
The transfer is expected to be finalised after the completion of the medical and agreement of personal terms.
Guimarães’ arrival would add further quality and experience to an Arsenal squad aiming to compete for domestic honours and success in Europe.
PUNCH Online had reported that Arsenal are expected to increase their offer for Newcastle United midfielder as they step up efforts to secure the Brazilian’s signature this summer.
