The Al-Ahli forward is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24.

Toney, who was part of the England squad that reached the World Cup semi-finals last month, was reportedly arrested in December following allegations that he headbutted an individual at the nightclub.

However, a spokesperson for the striker said he was prepared to defend himself in court.

“Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court,” the spokesperson said.

Toney joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli after leaving Brentford and remains one of England’s most recognised forwards.

The case will now proceed through the legal system as the striker awaits his court appearance.
