Perhaps the most innovative aspect of this policy is the administration’s response to the persistent shortage of qualified medical personnel in rural communities. Under a carefully designed programme, medical students are placed on the state payroll during their training and, upon graduation, are required to serve for two years in rural healthcare facilities.

This initiative has not only addressed the challenge of retaining skilled healthcare workers but has also ensured that residents of previously underserved communities have access to qualified medical professionals, bringing quality healthcare closer to the people and ultimately saving lives.

Agriculture, the backbone of Sokoto State’s economy and the primary source of livelihood for a large proportion of its people, is another sector that has reinforced Senator Wamakko’s immense confidence in Governor Aliyu’s administration. Although internal security remains constitutionally the responsibility of the Federal Government, the realities on the ground have compelled the Sokoto State Government to complement federal efforts.
