The Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Osun Zone, on Sunday held a special prayer session for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The prayer was held at the NASFAT Asiwaju Khamis Olatunde Badmus (NAKOB) Central Mosque, Dagbolu, Osogbo, in collaboration with the national headquarters of the organisation.

The event attracted a large turnout of NASFAT members, including prominent leaders of the Islamic organisation from Osun and neighbouring states.

Speaking at the gathering, the Vice President II of NASFAT Worldwide, Ajiroba Maruf Adedokun, clarified that the organisation was not affiliated with any political party.

Adedokun explained that the prayer was organised for Oyebamiji as an individual because of his role as one of the founding members of NASFAT.

“The reason why we organised the prayer for Alhaji Munirudeen Oyebamiji is that he is one of our founders. We want to support him as an individual, not as a political party, and we pray that he emerges in this coming election, Insha Allah.”

He appealed to NASFAT members and other residents of the state to ensure that the August 15 election was conducted peacefully, urging voters to conduct themselves with decorum.

Meanwhile, more than 50 NASFAT members benefited from an empowerment programme organised as part of the event.

The initiative, spearheaded by the wife of the APC governorship candidate, Alhaja Sekinat Oyebamiji, saw 50 beneficiaries receive ₦50,000 each.

The beneficiaries were drawn from various NASFAT branches across Osun State, including Osogbo, Ikirun, Ede, Ile-Ife, Iwo, Modakeke, Ilesa, Ejigbo, Iree and Ikire, among others.

Speaking on the initiative, Alhaja Sekinat Oyebamiji said the gesture was aimed at supporting Muslim men and women to improve their businesses and livelihoods.

“The motive is just to empower Muslim men and women who are from Osun to support them. I pray that Allah accepts it from me as an act of worship and makes it easy for my husband to emerge as the Governor.

“I urge all the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, either to invest in their businesses or to boost their existing enterprises.”

In his remarks, Oyebamiji expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of NASFAT for organising the special prayer.

The APC candidate said the event was significant to him, describing it as a demonstration of support from members of the organisation across the South-West.

“I glorify Almighty Allah. We have NASFAT members from Lagos, Osun, Oyo and Ogun, and this is the first of its kind that NASFAT has organised for anyone.

“This gladdens my heart, and it is a signal that on August 15, 2026, I, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, will be the Governor of Osun State.”

Oyebamiji pledged that his administration, if elected, would prioritise the welfare of the people and ensure good governance, irrespective of religious affiliation.

“The government of Munirudeen Oyebamiji will be a government of the people, for the people. This implies that Christians, Muslims and people of other religions will enjoy my government when I am voted as Governor of Osun State.”

He also appealed to NASFAT members and other residents of the state to ensure that the election remained peaceful.

“I appeal to all members of NASFAT and the people of Osun in general that this election must be peaceful, and we must all come out to vote.”
