President Bola Tinubu is committed to ensuring peace and tranquility, not only in Nigeria but across the world, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said.

Idris stated this in Abuja during the inauguration of a newly constructed mosque by the Secretary General of the Muslim World League and chairman of the Organisation of Islamic Scholars, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa.

“The president is determined to ensure peace and tranquillity not just in Nigeria, but around the world. This is a clear demonstration of the path that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking,” he said.

Idris, who had earlier received Sheikh Al-Issa at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and accompanied him to the mosque inauguration, described the “visit as a demonstration of the strong relationship between Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and the international community.”

He said the international conference on national security was taking place at a critical period as the federal government continued to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture while implementing reforms and investments aimed at accelerating socio-economic development.

The minister noted that peace, security and religious harmony remained essential to Nigeria’s prosperity, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and national unity.

Idris said Nigeria, as Africa’s most populous country, had an important responsibility to contribute to peace and stability across the continent.

He said a peaceful and secure Nigeria would have a positive impact not only on West Africa but on Africa as a whole.

Idris added that the international security conference would provide an opportunity for religious leaders and other stakeholders to exchange ideas and develop practical approaches to strengthening peaceful coexistence, security and mutual understanding.
