2027 Election: My nomination is a renewed call to service, says Jigawa deputy gov

The Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Aminu Usman, has described his renomination as the running mate to Governor Umar Namadi for the 2027 gubernatorial election as a renewed call to service.

Mr Usman, an engineer made the statement during a parley with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Jigawa State. He commended his principal, Governor Namadi, for the trust and confidence reposed in him by selecting him for a second term.

“I consider this nomination not only a great honour, but also a renewed call to service and responsibility to the good people of Jigawa State. I remain profoundly grateful to His Excellency, the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, for the confidence and trust he continually had in me.

“I pray that Almighty Allah will guide us, strengthen us and enable us to continue serving the people with sincerity, humility and dedication.

“I thank the members of Jigawa Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ for their display of professionalism in the discharge of your constitutional responsibilities in informing and educating the people.

“As members of the press, you remain important partners in the development of our dear state. We look forward to your continued cooperation, constructive engagement and responsible reporting as we work together for peace and progress of the state”, the Deputy Governor stated.

Earlier in the meeting, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Zangina Muhammad, assured the Deputy Governor of the members’ unalloyed support and cooperation toward the overall progress of Jigawa State.

Mr Muhammad noted that the chapel comprises journalists from reputable national and international media organisations who operate ethically to highlight policies and programmes that impact the public.

“We will remain committed to responsible journalism that aligns with the policies and programmes of the government, holds the government accountable, tells compelling stories highlighting local culture, resilience, community challenges, among others,” Mr Muhammad said.
