The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) in Cross River State, Sir Arthur Javis has called on Governor Bassey Edet Otu to connect with the people and stop leaving the state so often.

Javis who made the call on Thursday during a press briefing at the Earnest Etim Bassey Press center in Çalabar noted that the governor has abdicated his responsibility and allowed his aides to run the state.

The PDP Governorship candidate alleged that “there is no month that the governor spends more than ten days in the state,” saying “twenty days are spent either in Abuja and/or abroad.”

He asked: “How can the governor, then honestly know the challenges of the for the Bakacitizenry, and how can the citizenry, even the elite have access to the Chief Executive of their state who should be available to understand their concerns firsthand with a view to expeditiously solving same?”

However, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otu, Mr. Linus Obogo said the governor’s journeys have benefitted the state because, according to him, he has attracted investments to the state.

Obogo said: “The governor recently attracted more than one billion dollars from investors and three billion dollars from the African Development Bank for the Bakassi deep sea port.

“If he didn’t travel will he be able to secure the investment? Gó to Ukelle in Yala local government area and see what the governor has done or go to Boki local government and see the roads this administration has constructed, ” he said.
