The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reaffirmed the credibility and integrity of the recently released results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.

The council, in a statement issued on Thursday by its Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola F. Adesina, said it was concerned about what it described as a wave of public commentary by content creators and social media commentators questioning the accuracy of the results.

WAEC’s statement  issued by its Public Affairs Department on Thursday, August 13, 2026, on behalf of the Head of National Office said while it welcomed constructive scrutiny from candidates, parents, schools and members of the public, the 2026 examination results were produced through rigorous, transparent and quality-assured processes that have guided its operations for decades.

The council said the examination was conducted in strict compliance with its established standard operating procedures and relevant educational policies, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Education.

It urged members of the public to exercise caution and avoid relying on unverified claims circulating on social media.

WAEC explained that every candidate’s script undergoes a multi-tiered system of marking, moderation and auditing, guided by standardised marking schemes and supervised by vetted subject experts.

The council also stated that it maintains established channels through which candidates and other stakeholders can raise queries or grievances concerning examination results.

It advised candidates and members of the public with concerns to approach WAEC through its offices nationwide or its verified online communication platforms rather than relying on social media speculation.

The council reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of its assessment processes and safeguarding the interests of candidates.
