DERA - Monday, August 17, 2026
Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has cautioned governors banking on state machinery and electoral manipulation to secure re-election in 2027 that they may face disappointment.
Kwankwaso issued the warning on Sunday in Abuja during the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Personality Interview Series.
He stressed that attempts to rely on government structures rather than genuine voter support could backfire in the next election cycle.
His remarks come amid growing political tension as several governors prepare strategies for the 2027 polls.
