Natasha Osawaru, wife of Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has emerged as the minority leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.
Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency, was announced as the minority leader during plenary on Monday following a reshuffling of the Assembly’s principal leadership positions.
Her emergence came under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, after she defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in May 2026.
Reacting to her new position in a statement shared on her Facebook page, Osawaru described the appointment as a responsibility and a trust placed in her by the people.
“This new responsibility is not a title; it is a trust. Our democracy thrives on rigorous debate, accountability, and the courage to advocate for the ordinary citizen without compromise,” she said.
Osawaru’s emergence adds a new responsibility to her legislative career as she assumes a key opposition role in the Edo Assembly.
