The President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Dr Farouk Rabiu Mudi, has said that for the Government of President Tinubu’s injections of over N1.3 trillion into agricultural support and the freeing of over 70 Percent of farmlands from Ilinsurgencies, “Tinubu deserves a second term in office”.

Farouk made the declaration while speaking to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday, on the forthcoming Nigerian – Brazilian International Agric Exhibition in Collaboration with the Kano State Government and Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KACCIMA) in November 2026.

According to him, Nigeria is blessed with over 70 million hectares of farmlands in which some ungoverned spaces have hitherto been occupied by unfriendly enemies over time.

“Although the previous administration made serious efforts to reclaim those spaces, upon assumption of office, the determination of the present administration to secure those farmlands has been responsible for relief for many farmers arising from coordinated efforts of the security architecture being put in place by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

“Similarly, the partnership between the Ministry of Defence and AFAN suddenly became the game changer for our farmers; many farmers are beginning to go back to their farmlands. IDP camps are witnessing transformation while most people have been returned to their homes.

“This approach is commendable, and in appreciation, General Christopher Gwaban Musa was conferred with the title of Patron of AFAN recently, which was widely celebrated in Abuja.”

The AFAN President, however, notes that the partnership between AFAN and the Federal Ministry of Defence resulted in facilitating some of their executives to an agricultural study tour in Brazil, participating in their annual trade exhibition titled Cotrijal, to identify innovations on how to help Nigerian farmers go back to the farm, and similarly develop more creative ways in helping those in IDP camps.

“AFAN under my watch is set to host the Nigerian – Brazilian International Agric Exhibition in Collaboration with the Kano State Government and Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KACCIMA) in November this year.

“The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Livestock Development, Industry, Trade and Investment, and Foreign Affairs are all in collaboration with this initiative aimed at transforming the agriculture and livestock sector in Nigeria from subsistence farming to mechanised agriculture, which is capable of making Nigeria the hub of agriculture within the West African sub-region.”

Meanwhile, he added that this innovation in collaborating with Brazilian farmers through the intent of AFAN and the Federal Government to deploy more resources towards the outgrower scheme and blended finance will help in uplifting the agriculture and livestock sectors.

“Many nations that practice this system have seen prosperity and increase in their annual GDP, and our effort to partner with the federal government agencies, the private sector and development partners will see us leap frog into the most attractive destination in farming in a few years, because we have enough farmlands and willing hands ready to embrace farming in commercial quantity for export to other nations in large volumes”, he assured.

“We are open to ideas and innovation that will support our smallholder farmers, and with the efforts of various state governments through agricultural extension services, AFAN will make sure that the vision of the present administration in addressing food security shall be a success.

“I want to use this medium to thank Mr President for the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Livestock Development, Blue Economy and funding of NAGS-AP Project, the Nigerian Agricultural Development Fund, Bank of Agriculture, which, if well managed, will transform our agric sector immensely.”

Dr Farouk called on their members to key into this vision of AFAN and the federal government to ensure that they leverage these innovations by the federal government to seek guidance and support and partner with the agencies for the national rebirth.

“I urge all our members nationwide to support the Agricultural transformation of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to unlock the good potentials that God has given us.”
