Davido and Wande Coal have engaged in a war of words on social media over an unreleased version of a song.
The confrontation started after a viral interview in which Davido discussed why the version of Wande Coal’s 2021 song, ‘Come My Way’, featuring him was never released.
In the interview, Davido said Wande had earlier “brought” the song to him to record his own verse before the original was released.
He claimed the song was not released because Wande wanted to first put out the original version and later release his contribution as a remix, which he said he did not agree to because “I didn’t record it as a remix”.
“He hit me up at the time to do the song. He brought it to me, but hadn’t released it yet, so I recorded that verse, and that verse is hard,” he said.
“I think he wanted to drop it first and then drop my own as a remix, and I was like, ‘No oh, I didn’t record it as a remix.’ It would have been nice sha.”
Reacting to the viral video via X, Wande questioned Davido’s claim that he had brought the song to him, explaining that the original single already had a planned release date.
He also accused Davido of trying to control the release of a song that belonged to him while boasting that it eventually did well without Davido’s contribution.
“Carry song come give you as how? Song wey been get release plan and date!!! Song wey no be your own you wan dictate release plan. That song fuckin did well without you on it bruv,” he wrote in pidgin English.
Davido responded to Wande’s criticism with a taunt, using an insulting remark directed at the singer’s manhood. He wrote, “No vex Mr little pen^s.”
Wande also fired back with a taunt of his own, replying, “No vex too Mr. toto beggar.” The ‘Bumper Bumper’ crooner was referencing a viral video of Davido on his knees, allegedly persuading a lady to sleep with him.
