The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has contained a fire outbreak that engulfed two lock-up shops at 348 ZI/E Zone, Bola Ige International Market, New Gbagi, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The fire started around noon on Monday before it was eventually extinguished.
It was also gathered that some shops within the market were affected by the inferno, with goods worth millions of naira destroyed.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, who confirmed the incident, noted that no life was lost in the incident.
He added that an investigation was ongoing to unravel the cause of the fire.
He said, “On arrival, it was discovered that two out of a row of nine lock-up shops were engulfed in flames.
“The incident was reported following a distress call from a woman identified as Mrs Ola, who alerted the agency to the fire outbreak at the market.

“The agency’s firefighting team, led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent Adeniyi, promptly responded to the scene.
“On arrival, the firemen immediately commenced operations and successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjoining shops and other properties within the market.
“No casualty was recorded. The post-fire investigation is ongoing to determine the root cause of the fire incident.”
