Nollywood actors have rallied around veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following an appeal by his daughters for urgent medical assistance as he battles stage-four cancer.
Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo led the call for help, asking Nigerians and medical professionals to assist the family in finding specialists and treatment centres that can review Ogogo’s condition and recommend possible treatment options.
“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” Adebayo wrote on X.
He clarified that the family was not seeking financial donations but needed medical guidance and access to appropriate healthcare.
“As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction,” he said.
Adebayo appealed to people with links to reputable hospitals, oncologists and advanced cancer treatment centres in Nigeria and abroad to come forward and help the family review Ogogo’s medical records.
“If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist, please help reach out to his family immediately,” he added.
He also encouraged the public to share the appeal widely in the hope that it would reach medical professionals who could offer assistance.

Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the campaign on Tuesday after sharing a video of Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, on Instagram.
She appealed to anyone with relevant medical contacts or information that could help the actor’s treatment to contact the family.
“Pls kindly send dm to @kira_taiwo @limataiwo_ or me pls. Anyhow anyone can help ejoor,” she wrote.
The calls for intervention came after separate emotional videos from Lima and Kira, in which they revealed that their father was battling stage-four cancer.
Lima said Ogogo’s condition had worsened and claimed that hospitals had stopped treating him. Kira, meanwhile, said the hospital managing his case could no longer administer chemotherapy.
The sisters stressed that the family was not asking for money but for medical assistance that could give their father another chance at treatment.
At 66, Ogogo remains one of the prominent figures in Yoruba cinema.
His acting career has spanned more than four decades, during which he has featured in hundreds of Nigerian films.
