The Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Mr. Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi has gifted over N7 million to ex- players of Kano Pillars Football Club and three coaches, to enable them to improve on their welfare and professional career.
Dan’Agundi, who is also the North-West Coordinator of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), made the gesture shortly after the recently concluded Tinubu/Abba football competition. held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.
Speaking to journalists during the final of the Tinubu/Abba football competition, Dan’Agundi vowed that he would continue to support football and other sporting activities, as part of his resolve to promote socio-economic emancipation of the youth.
The Kano politician whose appearance at the Sani Abacha Stadium attracted huge applause from thousands of spectators, urged Kano youths to shun crime and engage in endeavours that have positive impacts on their lives, including football and other sporting activities.
He further expressed his unfading interest to youth development and empowerment, through sports, particularly, football and expressed his unflinching resolve to always make himself available on issues that affects the welfare and wellbeing of the Kano youth.
According to him, “I will continue to do everything within my capacity to support young people through sports. I will do all I can to help the youth in sports.”
In less than four days after the Tinubu/Abba football competition, Dan’Agundi fulfilled his promise as he gifted former Kano Pillars players and three football coaches, with more than ₦7 million, as part of his initiative to invest in the development of the youth through football.
According to the details made available, the fund would enable the three coaches undergo professional training and improve their coaching capacity, while the former Kano Pillars players would use their own share to support their welfare.
The Dan’Agundi gesture has attracted attention within the football community because of its focus on both the development of coaches and support for former players.
