Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stirred reactions online after a playful exchange with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The light-hearted encounter occurred when Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, visited Wike in Abuja on Thursday, following the governor’s re-election in the August 15, 2026, Osun governorship election.
In a viral video shared on Instagram by @OfficialPrinceNwauzor on Friday, Davido, dressed in brown traditional attire, could be seen standing before Wike and repeatedly declaring, “I won. I beat you guys.”

Wike, who was seated in a white shirt, smiled and disputed the singer’s claim.
“No, no,” the FCT minister responded.
Davido, however, insisted, “I won! I beat you.”
“You beat us?” Wike asked, to which the singer replied, “I beat you.”
The exchange was greeted with laughter from people present, with some voices heard saying, “I beg o.”
The playful moment ended when Davido prostrated before Wike before moving forward to embrace him, prompting cheers, applause and laughter from those in the room.
The exchange has attracted attention online, with many social media users linking Davido’s comments to the outcome of the Osun governorship election, where his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes, while African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Najeem Salaam finished third with 17,180 votes.
Following his re-election, Adeleke embarked on consultations with key political figures in Abuja. He visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa before meeting Wike.
A photograph shared by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, showed the FCT minister and Adeleke holding the governor’s Certificate of Return presented to him by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
