The Federal Ministry of Works has expressed delight over the appointment of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, and the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday approved the constitution of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, bringing together senior party leaders, ministers, former governors, lawmakers and political strategists to coordinate the party’s campaign activities across the country.
Under the new arrangement, Senator Umahi was appointed as Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation, while Bello Mohammed Goronyo was named Zonal Secretary Support Group Coordination North West.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mohammed A. Ahmed, the appointments were described as a recognition of the duo’s commitment to public service, infrastructure development and grassroots mobilisation.
The ministry noted that Umahi’s appointment places him at the centre of the APC’s campaign structure, particularly in the areas of infrastructure advocacy, political mobilisation and public sensitisation.
According to the statement, the former Ebonyi State governor is expected to leverage his vast experience in governance, legislation and infrastructure development to communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration and strengthen support for the party across the country.
The ministry highlighted Umahi’s track record as a former Deputy Governor, Governor, Senator and now Minister of Works, saying his experience and extensive political network would be invaluable in advancing the campaign’s objectives.
It also commended the appointment of Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, describing him as a seasoned administrator and grassroots politician whose inclusion in the council would further enhance the APC’s outreach and mobilisation efforts.
The statement expressed confidence that both ministers would contribute significantly to the success of the campaign council and help deepen public engagement on the achievements of the Renewed Hope Administration.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council is headed by former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Abdulaziz Yari, who was appointed Director-General of the campaign organisation.
The ministry said the composition of the council reflects President Tinubu’s determination to assemble a broad-based team with the experience, capacity and national reach required to effectively prosecute the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
It added that the appointments of Umahi and Goronyo underscore the importance the party places on infrastructure development, grassroots mobilisation and strategic communication as key pillars of its campaign efforts.
