Veteran Actor, Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Is dead

It’s a black Sunday for Nollywood practitioners as veteran actor Taiwo Hassan ‘ Ogogo’ is dead.

The news of his passing was announced by his daughter Kira Hassan via a live session of Instagram announcing in disbelief that her father has lost the battle to stage 4 cancer.

For more than three decades, veteran actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has entertained millions of Nigerians with memorable performances that have made him one of the enduring faces of Yoruba cinema.

On screen, he has played the fearless warrior, the stern father, the powerful chief and other unforgettable characters. Today, however, the celebrated actor is facing a battle far away from the cameras and movie sets.

Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, recently took to social media in emotional appeals, disclosing that their father was battling stage four cancer and needed access to specialised medical care.
