Police in Bauchi State have arrested a man and recovered a knife allegedly used to stab a 25-year-old man to death during a fight in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis.
The incident was reported to the police at about 11 pm on August 22, 2026.
The State Police Command said preliminary investigation indicated that a fight broke out between Abubakar Abdullahi, alias “Dan Iya”, and Moh’d Musa.
The suspect allegedly used a knife to stab Musa during the altercation. The victim was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.
Police operatives from A Division Township subsequently arrested the suspect and recovered the alleged weapon as an exhibit.
The corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, while the suspect remains in custody.
The Command said the matter would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu directed investigators to ensure a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the death and urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and shun violence.
