Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari, has assured that Nigerians will continue to associate with the party for keeping to its promises to the electorate.
While also expressing confidence that the party’s presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will win the 2027 election, he noted that with Tinubu’s pedigree, the APC stands to retain the Presidency beyond 2031.
Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, stated this Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where he was received on arrival from his foreign trip by party supporters.
He spoke some 24 hours after the Presidency unveiled the campaign council, headed by Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, making the list as principal officials.
Imo state governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma, is to serve as secretary.
Although some opposition members criticised the composition of the team, but Yari insisted the APC would secure another term for Tinubu on the strength of the administration’s performance over the past three years.
“Today, we have seen him as president, and by God’s grace, he shall be the president come 2027,” he said.
The lawmaker further said, “I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep to our promises.”
The former Zamfara state governor also said the party’s continued appeal to voters would depend on its ability to fulfil those commitments, stressing that the APC was always known for keeping to its promises. “Our party is synonymous with keeping to our words.”
“We pray that Almighty Allah will give him the wisdom to lead this country. We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfill all our campaign promises,” Yari said.
“We pray that our party will continue to be the party to lead the country after President Tinubu’s second term,” he added.
Kawu counsels team
In a related development, a lawmaker representing Kano South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Kawu Summaila, Monday, admonished the over 200-member campaign team to acknowledge the pains Nigerians are undergoing from a series of economic reforms and assure them of relief.
Kawu, in a personally signed goodwill message to Yari and other members of the team, described the assignment before them as a critical one requiring strategic execution and delivery.
“We must approach our citizens with deep empathy, active listening, and genuine sensitivity to the economic hardships and socio-economic challenges currently affecting everyday families.
“Our campaign must demonstrate that we truly feel their pain, understand their daily struggles, and are sincerely committed to delivering meaningful reliefs,’ he said.
Kawu added that the Yari-led APC-PCC should carry the grassroots along in their campaigns and mobilisation and also leverage President Tinubu’s achievements and vision.
He said: “A disconnect between leadership and the electorate creates misperceptions and misunderstandings that ultimately undermine both the president and the party.
“Our campaign activities must strictly adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act and the Constitution, ensuring our efforts are rooted in legitimacy and public trust.
“We must leverage our collective expertise to clearly convey the President’s key policies, programs, and strategic vision so the public fully recognises his commitment to national progress.
“Victory depends on complete solidarity. We must heal internal rifts, set aside differences and ensure that all key stakeholders, party leaders, and members at every level are fully carried along as equal partners in this mission.”
