Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has felicitated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his 70th birthday.
Yusuf described the Sultan as a respected traditional and religious leader whose decades of service had contributed significantly to peace, unity and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Tofa.
The governor said Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar’s leadership had continued to provide guidance and stability on issues affecting the Muslim Ummah and the country at large.
“His Eminence, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has demonstrated exceptional wisdom, humility and commitment to the service of Islam, humanity and Nigeria,” Yusuf said.

“Through his leadership of the Sokoto Caliphate and the NSCIA, the Sultan has remained a voice for peace, tolerance and national unity. His interventions on security, peaceful coexistence and national development have earned him respect within and outside Nigeria,” the governor added.
Yusuf said the Sultan’s 70th birthday was not merely a personal milestone but an opportunity for Nigerians to recognise his contributions to the country and humanity.
“The attainment of 70 years by the Sultan is a significant milestone and a moment to acknowledge his immense contributions to the growth of our nation and the wellbeing of humanity,” he said.
The governor prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the Sultan continued good health, wisdom, strength and longevity to enable him to continue serving Islam, humanity and Nigeria.
Yusuf also wished the Sultan many more years of impactful leadership and prayed for divine guidance as he continues to discharge his responsibilities as the spiritual and traditional leader of the Sokoto Caliphate.
“Hearty congratulations to His Eminence on this auspicious occasion. May Almighty Allah continue to guide, protect and strengthen him and grant him many more years in good health and service to humanity,” the governor said.
