The Cross River State Police Command has arrested one Saviour Otu Adim, male, aged 29 years, in connection with the alleged murder of his six-year-old stepdaughter, Miss Goodness Ekpo Okon.

According to the Police Public Relations Officér, ASP Sunday Eitokpah Akata, the incident was reported on Friday, 28 August 2026, at about 0830 hours, by Mrs Itoro Udofia, who alleged that the suspect assaulted the deceased, resulting in her death. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect had allegedly accused the child of being a witch.

“The suspect is currently in Police custody, while the remains of the deceased have been deposited at a mortuary for autopsy. The case has been transferred to the SCID, Calabar, for further investigation.

“The Command urges members of the public to protect children, promptly report cases of abuse, and refrain from spreading unverified information or taking the law into their own hands,” the statement noted.
