Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to a court ruling against the Department of State Services (DSS), declaring that his resolve to resist what he described as oppression remains unbroken.

Sowore, in a statement shared on social media, accused the DSS of abusing its powers and said the agency had been forced to “eat humble pie” following the court’s decision.

He said the development vindicated his position that the legal action against him was an “exercise in futility,” stressing that he had faced similar battles over the years without being intimidated.

According to Sowore, his activism dates back to the era of military dictatorship and continued through the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari and the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

He quoted the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., saying, “A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.”

Sowore argued that oppression thrives when people submit, adding that his refusal to back down was part of his broader struggle against what he described as abuse of power.

He called on the DSS to immediately withdraw what he described as a “useless charge” and apologise to those affected.

He also demanded the return of his phones and electronic devices, as well as payment of the ₦3 million fine imposed on the agency by the courts.

Sowore further demanded the immediate return of phones and a drone allegedly seized from his assistant, Zainab Sodiq.

Reaffirming his commitment to his activism, Sowore said his struggle remained firm and his resolve unbroken.

He concluded the statement with his familiar slogan, “We are unstoppable.
