The Imole Campaign Council, supporting Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid, has accused the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) of deploying violence, political thuggery, and voter intimidation ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.
In an official press statement issued by campaign spokesman Pelumi Olajengbesio Esq., the group claimed that Osun voters are prepared to decisively reject the APC at the polls in response to these alleged actions.
The statement calls directly on the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security apparatuses to intervene immediately. The council demanded the identification, dismantling, and prosecution of all criminal networks involved in political violence across the state to guarantee a peaceful, free, and credible electoral process.
According to the council’s assessment of voter feedback across local communities, residents are reacting to a rising wave of violent attacks, harassment of political opponents, and alleged abductions linked to actors loyal to the opposition party. The campaign council asserted that these tactics represent a deliberate strategy to suppress voter turnout and instil fear in an electorate where the APC has lost political ground.
“Rather than presenting a compelling vision for governance or engaging the electorate with practical policy alternatives, the Osun APC has become increasingly associated with reports of political thuggery and intimidation,” Olajengbesi stated. He added that attempts to rely on “federal might” or state power to coerce the electorate will fail, as the sovereign will of the voters remains paramount.
Contrasting the current political climate with the incumbent administration’s record, the campaign council highlighted Governor Adeleke’s key achievements, including prompt salary payments for civil servants, ongoing infrastructure modernisation, public institution revitalization, and expanded welfare programs. Olajengbesi emphasized that the electorate has no desire to return to a previous era marked by oppression, insecurity, and institutional decline.
The statement concluded with a firm vote of confidence in the democratic process, asserting that the ultimate authority on August 15 rests with the citizens of Osun State. The council urged voters to defend their democratic rights by rejecting politics driven by coercion and voting overwhelmingly for peace, progress, and administrative continuity.
