The Adamawa / Taraba State command of the Nigerian customs service (NCS), has recorded another major breakthrough in its anti-smuggling crusade with the successful seizure of 64 pieces of complete raw Donkey skin and 534.55 kilograms of dried Donkey meat, 74 kilograms of Ivory tusks, and 220 kilograms of Pangolin scales.

Other items seized by the customs includes 25,295 litres of PMS, (1,003 jerry cans and 1 drum), 9  kilograms of cannabis sativa among other contrabands.

Speaking at a press conference in Yola on Wednesday, the Area Controller, Mohammed Tako, put the cumulative duty paid value  of all the seized items at  three hundred and sixty two million, two hundred and four thousand, five hundred and forty three naira  ninety one kobo (362,204,543,91) only.

He attributed this breakthrough to intelligence based operations across various locations within the command and dedication of their officers and men.

Tako further declared a total war against smugglers and their illicit activities,  urging them to abandon  smuggling activities and embrace legitimate businesses in their own interest.

The Controller further announced the arrest of 5 suspects in connection with the seizure and appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his visionary leadership and sister agencies for their seamless collaboration as well as his officers and men for their uncompromising efforts and dedication at all times.
