The Zamfara State Government, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has explained why it commenced the Global Standard Teacher Transformation Programme (GSTTP), saying the initiative is aimed at preparing teachers and education stakeholders to compete globally.

The training, which was flagged off on Monday in Gusau, is part of the state government’s commitment to its Teacher Transformation Programme.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Maryam Shantali, disclosed that the training was designed for teachers, Education Quality Assurance Evaluators and education administrators in the state.

“I welcome you all to this historic occasion — the commencement of the Global Standard Teacher Transformation Programme (GSTTP). Today’s event marks another decisive step in our collective journey to transform education in Zamfara State.

“This programme is more than a training exercise. It is a strategic investment in the most important resource of any education system — its people.

“By bringing together teachers, quality assurance evaluators, and education administrators, we are strengthening the entire education value chain, from classroom instruction to school leadership and system accountability.

According to her, education is changing rapidly across the world, while the demands of the 21st century require learners who can think critically, solve problems creatively, embrace technology and compete globally.

“His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, recognised this reality when he declared a State of Emergency on Education. That declaration was not merely symbolic. It was a clear commitment to reversing years of educational decline through bold reforms.

“The success of these reforms, however, depends largely on you — the teachers, evaluators and administrators gathered here today.

“As teachers, you are expected to inspire learning, nurture talent, and prepare our children to become responsible citizens and future leaders.”

She commended Noble Hall Limited for partnering with the ministry to deliver the programme.
