Re-elected Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has directed the state’s Attorney General to withdraw the lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the freezing of the state government’s bank account.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics shortly after his August 15 election victory, Adeleke explained that his decision followed President Bola Tinubu’s personal intervention.

“I’m putting them behind. What else do I want? I have instructed my Attorney General to drop it. Mr. President has done well. He called me. What more do I want?” Adeleke said.

The governor had earlier condemned the EFCC’s action as politically motivated and disruptive to governance.

However, Tinubu reportedly ordered the anti-graft agency to lift the restrictions and halt related proceedings.

On allegations that his aides and supporters were being questioned by the EFCC, Adeleke noted that his legal team had been instructed to provide support, while accusing the opposition of leveraging “federal might” against him.
