The Nigerian Army has confirmed that 24 family members of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists surrendered to troops in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to an operational report released on Saturday, the group fled terrorist enclaves in Gasuwa and Yaganari following clashes between rival factions before surrendering to troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion. 

They have since been profiled and documented for further action.In a separate operation, troops of the 212 Battalion, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), arrested two suspects in Maiduguri’s Bewac area. 

One was found with a magazine loaded with 35 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, while the second was linked to supplying the weapon. Both remain in custody for investigation.

Troops also apprehended a suspected ISWAP logistics supplier in Kekura, Damboa LGA, accused of providing food and mobile phones to terrorist camps.

Elsewhere, Operation FANSAN YAMMA foiled a kidnapping in Jurawa Village, Kaduna State, rescuing a female victim. Locals reportedly killed five suspected kidnappers before troops arrived, prompting the Army to caution residents against taking the law into their own hands.

Additional operations included:Plateau State: Troops of Operation Enduring Peace recovered an AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated firearm, and other items after raids in Bassa LGA.

Pankshin, Plateau: 20 rustled cattle were recovered and returned to their owner.

Delta State: Three suspected cultists were arrested in Isoko North over alleged murder.

Rivers State: Two suspects were caught transporting 125 litres of illegally refined fuel in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni LGA.

The Army reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide credible intelligence to support ongoing security efforts.
