Former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state and chieftain of the party, Alhaji Saidu Ugohoh, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the choice of a seasoned activist and Special Adviser to Kaduna state governor on research, documentation, and strategy, Comrade Fabian Ugochukwu Okoye, as Director of Civil Societies of his 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.

Describing Okoye as top notch civil society expert and excellent pick, the USA based businessman and politician emphasised that the president made an acceptable choice that has the potential of placing the opposition in a difficult spot in terms of organisation and support.

Further describing Comrade Okoye as a mobiliser and committed activist of national and international acclaim, Alhaji Ugohoh pointed out that the civil societies in Nigeria and in all advanced and emerging democracies have always played critical roles in shaping public opinion and advancing the course of inclusive democracy.

He said President Tinubu has once again demonstrated his knack for quality and talents, stressing that Comrade Okoye will bring his wealth of experience, network, and integrity to the table when the campaigns kick starts .

He maintained that, “I have worked with him in the National Assembly when we both served as advisers to the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and I can attest to his commitment, competence and network of contacts that shaped the office.

“His delivery and targets have always been excellency and you cannot take away his knowledge and composure to deliver at very short notice with nearly zero errors.”

Alhaji Ugohoh told journalists that the signs ahead of the 2027 general elections look positive with a substantial composition of the campaign council.

“There might be a few places that require reviews but areas where you have experts and people with proven integrity, commitment, and competence as it is in the case of the civil societies I have no doubt that the president has once again demonstrated he has eagle eyes and can spot the best anywhere they operate or reside.”

He expressed confidence that the 2027 general elections will be won on the performance indices ranging from rebooting and retooling the economy, infrastructure as well as sustained fight against insecurity by the Tinubu administration.

He pointed out that Nigeria is currently being portrayed in bad light on the international stage by elements of the opposition and advised proponents of the campaign to always remember that they have a country before politics.

Welcoming constructive criticisms, he called on all stakeholders not to rock the boat in their quest for power.
